At Rhino Chiropractic, we help our patients achieve optimal health with a total body approach to wellness. Using complementary treatments including chiropractic adjustment and cold laser therapy, our Rockville Centre chiropractor, Dr. John Gehnrich, helps correct the underlying causes of conditions like chronic or acute pain, headaches, back aches, injuries, and more.

While most patients are familiar with chiropractic adjustment, many have yet to learn about cold laser therapy, a non-invasive and side effect free approach to holistic care. Our chiropractor has provided the answers to a few common questions below.

Cold Laser Therapy FAQ

Our chiropractor has provided the answers to a few common questions below. We encourage you to contact our office to learn more.

What is cold laser therapy (CLT)?

CLT requires no surgery or medications. It is an effective, non-invasive, side effect free approach to holistic care. CLT uses a cold beam of laser light to stimulate the body, several inches beneath the surface, at the cellular level. Using a hand-held device called an Erchonia Laser, our chiropractor will direct the cold laser over the injured or affected part of the patient's body, delivering a pre-determined dose of light photons.

How does cold laser therapy work?

The photons of light reach beneath the skin's surface and help affected cells create more cellular fuel (ATP) within the cellular mitochondria. The more ATP available to injured cells, the more quickly they are able to heal, increasing cellular function and reducing the inflammation which leads to pain, limited mobility, scar tissue, and discomfort.

What types of conditions can CLT be used to address?

CLT can be used to address almost any condition or symptoms related to the body's musculoskeletal system including acute and chronic pain, inflammation, back pain, carpal tunnel, headache and migraine, degenerative disc and joint disease, fibromyalgia, herniated disc, osteoarthritis, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, spinal stenosis, tendonitis, TMJ, and more. In addition, CLT promotes faster healing post-surgery or injury by helping to fuel tissue healing at the cellular level.

What does CLT feel like?

CLT is painless and relaxing. During a therapy session, most patients feel nothing. Some patients report a slightly warm sensation in the targeted area.

How many sessions are needed to feel results?

As everyone's body reacts differently to stimuli, the number and duration of CLT sessions required for results depends on each patient and condition. Most patients feel improvements immediately, while others might require a few sessions before noticeable results are experienced.

Do the results of CLT last?

Rather than masking pain and discomfort like medications, CLT focuses on addressing the underlying causes of the symptoms which patients experience. The effects of CLT are cumulative and long-lasting, helping patients achieve their wellness goals while enjoying active, healthy lifestyles.
